My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

An internist’s primary focus should be to enhance the quality of his or her patients’ lives while also helping to protect them from illness. The majority of diseases in modern medicine can be identified by simply listening to what the patient and his or her body are telling you. Good medicine requires taking time to listen and develop close doctor-patient relationships. The word “doctor” in Latin actually means “teacher,” but the ideal relationship is one where both doctor and patient teach and learn from one another in order to achieve optimal health.

Dr. Silverman saved my husband's life. Following back surgery, my husband's self-medication pump was set for a dosage that was extremely low. As the anesthesia wore off, he complained of increasing pain even though he was using the pump as indicated. 12 hours later, the crisis became extensive. My husband's blood pressure was increasing to an alarming number. His surgeon, the… See more

Dr. Silverman is the BEST! He takes the time to get to know you, your family history and all of your healthcare concerns.

He cares for the whole person, not just the patient in front of him. In other words, he wants to know how your whole life is, not just your medical life. He wants to know what the stressors in your life may be and how he can help. He listens very well to… See more

I have the greatest respect for Dr. Joel Silverman. He is not only a consumate professional but really cares about his patients. One day I actually ran into him at my condo building making house calls on one of his older patients.

What really sold me was one night I started what seemed like uncontrollable bleeding in my throat and headed to the hospital to treat this inexplicable and… See more

He saved my life when the AFIB surgery went astray and a hole was punctured in my heart by another Doctor. He not only got me thru this near death experience, but he has continued to listen and help me thru a great deal of personal happenings. He is a great Doctor along with being a genuine nice human being. I just think the world of him and thank him for what he has done for me. He is a… See more

Edmund is my husband's first name but we call him by his middle name, Barry. Barry asked me to write since I joined Dr. Silverman's new team first. It was almost six months before Barry decided it was a good idea to join me. And a good idea it was because it wasn't long after joining that my husband was diagnosed with a grade 4 mitral valve leak and had to be admitted for… See more
