Dr. Scott Schaeffer: the Happy Warrior
When Dr. Schaeffer enters the room, it is always with a witty line and with a smile. He then takes a quick look to assess what state of misery I am in. He then opens his tablet and checks when I last visited him. He proceeds to ask what my symptoms are and when they started. Again he checks his screen as to when I last presented such symptoms. He is very methodical and very relaxed. He eventually checks my blood pressure with the old-fashioned blood pressure cuff to see if it has stabilized after the nasty electronic one used by his assistant.
Last year, 2024 was a traumatic year especially in April because my last sibling died and her funeral was to take place on April 8. So I went to him on April 4 to ask for a mild antianxiety medication. But I never got to take that medication because I was in a head-on accident while I was at a red light--a pick up truck slammed into me!
So the funeral was postponed and I sustained traumatic injuries that required emergency surgery and weeks in the hospital.
He provided all the medical information to the hospital and followed up with after care for me.
