A little over a year ago, I was going over lab results with Dr. Blizzard and he reported that my PSA was 2. Ok in most cases but he wanted to do a digital, rectal exam of my prostate. Dr. Blizzard told me that my prostate was enlarged and he detected multiple nodules on the gland. He immediately referred me to a urologist, highly skilled in robotic surgery. After the biopsy of my prostate, the urologist informed me that I had an invasive and aggressive cancer. The cancer was advanced and many treatments were ruled out and that immediate surgery was needed. After successful surgery, I remain cancer free. At my last urologist follow up, he urged me to thank Dr. Blizzard for ”saving my life." He said that having a PSA of 2 and being totally asymptomatic could have led me to go on with my life and probably be dead in two years if Dr. Blizzard had not performed the digital exam. I am and will always be grateful to have Dr. Blizzard as my family physician.
