I was in the hospital prepped and ready for a bronchoscopy when the attending anesthesiologist came into the room and told me she did not want to do this procedure because it was too dangerous for someone in my condition. This really frightened me. Unable to reach either the pulmonologist or heart surgeon who had ordered the bronchoscopy, I called Dr. Mike Yoesel’s office. When his receptionist told him my dilemma he immediately came to the phone although he was with a patient. I explained the situation and said I decided to go home. He took the names of the attending specialists, said he would contact them and my postponing the procedure was probably a good idea. Two hours later Dr. Yoesel called to say the specialists were referring me to a different diagnostic procedure in a different hospital. Eventually I did safely have a bronch and the treatments needed. That was a scary medical moment for me and how grateful I am for Dr. Y’s intervention. He’s a great doc!
