Dr. Crowley is a caring, compassionate caregiver who listens. As a result, this amazing physician has saved my life twice. I've been a patient of Dr. Crowley for almost 30 years. My first visit involved the passing of 6 kidney stones. His caring and intense interest in my health has resulted in me being his patient of almost 30 years. While he has treated my chronic issues (CKD, hypertension and type 2 diabetes) for the past 28 years, it was his listening skills and medical instincts that have allowed me to share the following story.
About 15 years ago on one of my regular office visits, I mentioned to him that while walking several weeks ago, I experienced a discomfort in my lower abdomen. That discomfort has stopped and I almost did not mention it. Dr. Crowley asked a few questions and did a lower abdominal exam. Nothing was detected. However, his instincts kicked in and he asked a few more questions. As a result he then ordered an X-ray which detected some sort of growth in my right kidney. He then sent me to a local urologist who then ordered and MRI (or it could have been a CAT scan-not sure which) which detected a tumor in that kidney, which turned out to be a contained cancerous tumor. The kidney was removed and, according to the urologist, had it not been detected and removed, it would have metastasized and my life would have been in jeopardy.
That discomfort that I reluctantly brought to Dr. Crowley's attention had NOTHING to do with that cancerous tumor. Because Dr. Crowley listened to me and used his sharp medical instincts, I am alive today.
However, that is not the only time that Dr. Crowley acted quickly and saved me. It was about 10 years ago I was taking a shower and tried to lift my arms to wash my hair. I could not lift my right arm. My wife, an RN, urged me to give Dr. Crowley a call. I reluctantly followed her advice and Dr. Crowley told me to come right in. That was a Wednesday afternoon. After an exam and asking a few questions, Dr. Crowley sensed that something serious was going on and immediately called a local neurosurgeon. That following Friday I was on the operating room table to have neck surgery on my spine. As per the neurosurgeon, if I did not see Crowley and had he not acted so quickly, I would have lost the complete use of my right arm.
I have been retired for over twenty years and would love to move to Florida. However, I WILL NOT and CAN NOT leave this area because I don't believe that I will find another physician like Dr. Crowley.
Sincerely,
Frank M Pafumi
