Dr. Peter Gottesfeld

I think Dr. Gottesfeld is a compassionate, thorough and good clinician. I became his patient under trying circumstances. I had been very ill for over a year with a variety of illnesses which followed the death of my loving husband of 54 years of an aggressive cancer that no one expected. I also lost my former doctor of 20 years to retirement and was looking for a replacement doctor and feeling medically vulnerable. I had been lucky in my lifetime to have had two former internists who were excellent and worried whether I could find another. Some doctors I subsequently went to were lacking.

When I met the new MDVIP doctor he came out of his office to greet me, smiled, welcomed me and said his name was Peter. That instantly relaxed me and made me hopeful that I might have found the right person.

That first visit was longer than an hour and he let me share my medical history and medical concerns. He was an excellent listener and his follow up questions showed his concern and knowledge. His exam was thorough and he immediately referred me for more tests and for a cardiac referral. I was very impressed that he did that and that he personally called me and had an extended conversation explaining the test results. He respected me as an adult (80) years and talked to me as an equal. What was very impressive to me is that I was able to see his thinking process at work. He was like a researcher or detective trying to get at what was causing my health problems.

In summation I found Peter a kind man, respectful of his patients and committed to finding out how to help me. He always returns calls and seems to be working hard to help me.
