We have been under the care of Dr. Antony Daros for a number of years now. To share a specific experience, about 18 months ago, I (Kathy) went in to see him during a time I was under a lot of stress due to the caring of my mother who was a stroke survivor. I had been having some conflicts with siblings about her care and my mother would frequently call each of us to rant and rave about something. Usually, it was her, feeling we aren’t with her enough or because we wanted an in-home caregiver to be with her each day and she did not agree. On this particular day, while on my way to my appointment to see Dr. Tony, I received a call from my mother yelling at me, saying I didn’t care about her, etc. At my appointment, my blood pressure check reflected very high numbers. Dr. Tony asked me what was going on. I proceeded to start crying and explained what had been going on. I shared I felt guilty, didn’t know how to handle the situation with my mother and her care, felt bad because I disagreed with some of the things my siblings felt we should or shouldn’t do. The first thing he said was that he is there to help me care for my full being, not just the physical side. He calmly explained that he wanted me to read a book and proceeded to find it on him tablet on Amazon. He advised me to order a specific book (Boundaries) to read. Dr. Tony said something to me I have never forgotten and have shared with friends when they face similar situations: “It is your responsibility to make sure your parent is properly cared for. However, it is not your responsibility to BE THE ONE to care for her.” I was feeling guilty about so much of the situation, and feeling worn down physically and exhausted emotionally. I ordered the book and read it, at a point, my siblings and I agreed Mom needed 24 hr care and has been now in an assisted living facility for 1 1/2 years. We know it is in her best interest and for her safety. Dr. Tony provided me with unbiased insight that day. We are so very thankful to be under the care of such a caring physician that does care about your ‘whole being’ as well as being very proactive in our physical care. A second and more recent example of the kind of doctor we are blessed to have is that Terry’s bloodwork at his most recent annual physical reflected a very high calcium number. Dr Tony want to be sure this was not affecting his heart functionality. He proceeded in referring two tests (Echo and CT). These both came back showing his valves were working properly, not being hindered by the high calcium levels and everything looked good. Upon sharing these results, Dr. Tony suggested one more test ‘just to put our minds at ease’. That test (CTA) showed there was a 70% blockage in one of the arteries. However, in spite of that, the test showed the heart was pumping the blood though normally! That again, was good news about the blood flow. Dr. Tony knows that blockage is there and we are confident he will monitor that going forward. For now, our minds at ease because he proactively pursued the proper tests to confirm everything was good! (And, we are now aware of a blockage that we wouldn’t have known about otherwise.). We appreciate Dr. Antony Daros and the way he shows he cares for his patients - in every way and is so proactive!
