Last year, previous to my birthday, Dr. Wittmer explained that upon reaching the age of 75 it is recommended that no further colonoscopies are needed.
However, he suggested that he could order a Cologuard test just to be sure there were no problems. The Cologuard test came back positive and he sent me to Dr. Eaves, a gastroenterologist. As a result, I had 4 very large polyps in my colon and it took 2 colonoscopies to remove them. Dr. Eaves felt that these polyps could have developed into cancer and that it was extremely fortunate that Dr. Wittmer ordered the testing be done.
