My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I have been practicing general internal medicine and taking care of patients throughout the New York City metro area since 1983. I believe the essence of providing quality care is building close and personal relationships with patients and their families. This happens when there is trust, open communication and a mutual commitment to a healthy lifestyle.

In my personalized healthcare practice, similar to a concierge practice, I have time to work closely with all of my patients and tailor their care to their unique needs and goals. For the past 25 years, I have been recognized as one of Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors” in New York.

My office is conveniently located on the lower west side of Manhattan, and I am affiliated with New York University Medical Center. I care for patients in the immediate area, as well as surrounding neighborhoods, including Chelsea, Gramercy, Midtown, Tribeca, Flatiron, Murray Hill, Union Square, East Village, West Village and the tristate region.

I take pride in having an exceptional and attentive office staff who know my patients on a personal level. As a private doctor, my patients have peace of mind knowing I am available for same-day or next-day appointments, as well as by cell phone for urgent needs. In addition to primary care, I also focus on prevention and treatment of hypertension, diabetes and high cholesterol. I aim to partner with my patients to understand and solve their medical problems through early interventions and wellness counseling.

Hi, Dr. Zeale. As you know, I joined MDVIP only because I did not want to lose you as my doctor. Now that I can't get to New York to see you, I sometimes question my membership. But I really like the way you communicate and make sensible choices and, with this structure, can take more time with me than the other doctors I occasionally see in Woodstock and Anna Maria, Florida. The… See more

Dr Zeale has been a tremendous help in keeping me focused on improving my health. We have had a long-term relationship built on trust and leading medical insights.

Dr Zeale is always available 24/7 to answer questions, from wherever I am in the world (I travel often on business).

Dr. Zeale is always available to me and spends a lot of time with his patients
either in person or on the phone. He is very thorough in his diagnosis and
explores all the options available.
He is the first doctor who had my A1C tested and found that I was pre-
diabetic. We work together on keeping this in check.
His office staff is also outstanding which says a… See more

Dr. Zeale is like have an Aladdin with 3 billion wishes in his lantern.
He has been there for me through big and small and found a way to fix it all quickly and with such comfort. And we get to talk about golf while he is poking and ahhhhh-ing. I am deeply grateful for all he has done to get and keep me well and for all he will do in the future. He is the best doctor I have ever had… See more

Dear Dr. Zeale,
Thank you for diagnosing me with Lyme disease back in 1997; I finally had a cause for my ~ 40 accumulated signs & symptoms that had been plaguing me for 4 years! No other MD had thought of it until then.

from Deborah in NY February 28, 2018 for Peter J. Zeale, MD

I had been a patient of Dr, Jeff Silver in Chestnut Hill, MA. He was wonderful.
However, I had made the decision to move to NYC and had no choice but to find another physician. I was very hesitant when I began with Dr. Zeale in NYC. Having such a great relationship with Dr. Silver, I knew it was going to be difficult to get used to someone new. However, the first day I went to his… See more

from Arlene in NY February 27, 2018 for Peter J. Zeale, MD

It has been a wonderful experience having Dr. Zeale as my primary doctor. I have had very easy access to appointments and my requests by phone have been answered with amazing speed. Dr. Zeale has been very through in explaining things so that they are understood. He has given me excellent referrals to other doctors and his staff is warm and friendly.

The Trump administration is considering making fee-based primary care options like MDVIP more affordable for seniors. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services this year put a call out to healthcare providers, asking how the U.S. government could help Medicare patients cover some of the… See more
