During a very sudden and totally unexpected fracturing/shattering in me of my ceramic research hip replacement, Dr. Brent Laughlin went above and beyond to help me in every way. My orthopedic surgeon was out of town for 10 days for Thanksgiving. Dr. Laughlin arranged for an x-ray that very afternoon and then a CT scan and blood work which at his insistence enabled me to at least see the PA right before they shut down for Thanksgiving. I had surgery the following week. The revision surgery replacement became infected and in January a second surgery was performed. The area was still infected even after a third replacement. After hospital I had to spend eight days in rehab. Dr. Laughlin made a visit while I was in rehab causing the doctor in charge to comment on how unusual that was and even to have a talk regarding my condition.

Upon release the Home Health scheduling was a fiasco. I spent over a week with no Home Health at all with an infected wound and also attached to an IV pump for antibiotics 24/7. Dr. Laughlin personally came to my house to change the wound dressing four times and even sent one of the office assistants to give me a shower as my wound and PICC line had to be wrapped--it had been well over a week!

I am still on IV antibiotics and since this situation has gone on over 4 months now, Dr. Laughlin has handled my prescriptions, my blood work and my well being including speaking with an out of town sister who is a doctor and other relatives. He has helped me emotionally and physically in enduring this most difficult situation and I know he and his excellent staff will be there until I am fully recovered. Thank you again to Dr. Laughlin and his wonderful assistants.
