Long before MDVIP, my wife and then I went to Dr. Loretta Metzger. When she joined MDVIP, we joined. I could list various ailments we had or have, or medications we take, or treatments we have received. But it comes down to this: She is an important part of our daily lives. We know that she cares, that she takes the time, that if one or the other of us doesn't feel well, we can see her or just text or email her. We know that she will respond, and that her advice will be sound. We know that when she orders a test, she does it not to protect herself but to cover the bases and find what she thinks might be there or hopes won't be there. And she has perhaps the most important quality a GP can have: She knows what she doesn't know, and when to send us to others.

But one situation comes to mind. My wife's finger became red and swollen. It wasn't better the next morning. We texted her photos at 7:30 a.m. She replied within a minute to say she had an opening at 11 a.m., and could she be there. She examined the finger, said that it was infected, and was concerned that it might be a serious infection, so she wanted her to see a hand specialist. She referred us to someone specifically and made sure we got in quickly. We saw the specialist within two days. He did a treatment that may well have saved her finger. And that is because Dr. Metzger saw the problem and acted on it, and made sure others acted on it, too. We know we can count on her.
