My husband and I are both over 65. I am pretty healthy. But my husband has a number of pre-existing conditions (heart and back). Dr. Serio was our primary care doctor before he joined MDVIP. He was a very caring and knowledgeable doctor. But, whenever we had an appointment, it wasn't uncommon that we would have to wait up to 2 hours in his office before he was able to see us. He always spent whatever time it took to evaluate the situation, diagnose, discuss proposed treatment and then answer any questions we might have as well as give us a detailed explanation of whatever it was that was causing our problem/s. When he was with us, he never was in a hurry to get to the next patient. Everything changed for the better when he joined MDVIP. We now can call and usually get in to see him the same day and our wait time has been reduced to an average of 10-15 minutes from the time we walk in the door till we actually see Dr. Serio. Also, he still spends quality time with us each time we come. We have never had a doctor who not only treated our problems, but educates us every time so we have a thorough understanding of what we have, what probably caused it, why the proposed treatment is best in his opinion, risks, and prognosis. We also really like that he can refer us to other specialized treating sources as the need arises - Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL, etc. Dr. Serio has excellent rapport with other specialty doctors in Tallahassee and has been able to refer us quickly to dermatologists, neurosurgeons, pulmonologists, and cardiologists. In several cases when my husband or I were given appointments with specialists that were 2 months or more into the future, we called Dr. Serio and within 24 hours the specialist doctor's office called to give us appointments within 2 weeks or less.
Finally, Dr. Serio is a "human being" of good character. He is warm and personable. His staff is just like him. We hope he doesn't retire before we pass on from this life.
