Our primary care physician is Dr. Mark Chyna who is now part of the MDVIP program. Both my wife (Virginia) and I (Merrill) have been with Dr. Chyna for close to 40 years. Several years ago, when Dr. Chyna announced that he was joining MDVIP, both of us, without hesitation, signed up with him. Below are a few of the reasons we find Dr Chyna to be so important to our medical care: 1. Dr Chyna is always available to us on a timely basis. 2. He has a way of guiding us through the medical labyrinth which, according to others, can be a nightmare. 3. He selects the best doctor or group for our medical needs because of his knowledge of the different medical groups in our area. 4. Dr Chyna always follows up with us to make sure we got the best treatment possible. A couple of examples come to mind for our interaction with Dr Chyna. 1. Many years ago Dr Chyna suggested that I get a PSA test as part of my physical. This was based on the prior history in my family. My father had died of prosate cancer when he was 89. The reading came back low but Dr Chyna thought I should get a biopsy which I did and it came back positive. I wanted to have the prostate removed but the surgeon who had done the biopsy was not trained in the laparoscopic procedure. Dr Chyna knew a doctor at the University of Chicago Medical Center who was one of the first trained in the laparoscopic procedure. The doctor removed my prostate with minimal side effects. In a couple of weeks I was fully recovered. 2. Several years ago my wife twisted her knee and had severe pain. After Dr Chyna evaluated her knee he suggested an orthopedic surgeon to remove her ACL. The operation was a success. In addition, my wife has gone back to the same group to have both knees replaced with minimal side effects. 3. In the last few years I’ve had skin cancer, severe sciatic nerve pain and GI Issues. In each case Dr Chyna has suggested the medical team that has treated my skin cancer (3 Moh’s surgery), back surgery and performed a colonoscopy/endoscopy. In each case I have been very pleased with the outcome of each procedure by the doctor/medical team. Finally, both my wife and I feel very fortunate to have Dr Chyna as our primary care physician. As I said at the beginning Dr Chyna has helped guide us through the medical labyrinth many times to a successful medical outcome.
