I met Dr. Angela Paniagua-Vega in 2003 while working as the NP in the Occupational Health Department of the hospital where Dr. Angela was coming to work as a lab technologist while she was working to get her US physician certification. I asked what new hires were going to work and she told me. She then added that she had been a physician in Columbia for 6 years and wanted to practice in the USA. I had been an NP since 1996 and carried "a little black book" with many important NP disease processes, treatments, medical diagnoses, and other important information. I wrote her name down on the bottom of one page (it is still there however I no longer carry that because I am in pain management the last 13 years). When I saw her listed as a new physician in Tucson, I jumped at the chance to see her. She came into the exam room and I could tell she was looking at me in the "you look sort of familiar but..." and I related where we met in the past. We gave each other a BIG hug, which is our routine to this day. I pay the MDVIP fee just to have "My Angela." She is well aware of this story. She is one of the most genuine, caring, competent, intelligent physicians I have been associated with, and loves being able to help patients. We have a very special patient/professional relationship that will continue as long as she is practicing.
