Some years ago I was hospitalized with acute pancreatitis, a particularly painful and fraught experience. The hospital physician and the surgeon strongly suggested a cholecystectomy..I had my reservations, being an 80+ man. I persisted in my refusal of the surgical procedure, despite the daily and increasingly dire warnings by the hospital staff. I turned to Dr. Grimm for support and he helped me to avoid an (as it turned out) unnecessary procedure. He also spoke movingly at the memorial for my wife (who was also a patient of his), something not usually done by primary physicians.
