My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

During more than 30 years of practicing internal medicine, I have enjoyed challenging diagnostic medicine but have also had a passion for preventive medicine, healthcare and health maintenance. My aim is to help patients help themselves with their wellness and medical conditions in a non-pressured environment without restrictive time limitations. I emphasize comprehensive exams and preventive healthcare as well as diagnostic and ongoing therapeutic medicine. I have told patients for years that it is easy to prescribe therapeutic medications but much more enjoyable to be able to discontinue medications as a results of improvement in health and lifestyle. I understand that such care requires ample and generous time for office visits, annual wellness exams, interval visits for chronic conditions and sick visits. During my years of practice, my patients and I have had close personal relationships including sharing family stories and experiences and spending time sharing interests, travel experiences and hobbies. My new MDVIP-affiliated practice will enable me to continue to provide the care I have provided all these years despite the changes in today’s medical climate. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

I am a board-certified internist and have served as the Chairman of the Internal Medicine department at my hospital, President of the Tulsa County Medical Society and Chairman of the Board of the Oklahoma State Medical Association in the past. I am currently associated with Ascension/St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I see patients from all over the state of Oklahoma, as well as patients from Texas, Arkansas and Missouri. I have 30-plus years of outstanding relationships with specialists, surgeons, therapists and ancillary care personnel throughout the entire city of Tulsa.

It is reassuring to have a doctor like Dr. Nierenberg who makes you feel important. He quickly returns calls and encourages you to reach out to him when questions about health care arise. Also, he goes above and beyond, When Jack was in the hospital with an infection last year, Dr. Nierenberg, who was not on call and who was not the hospitalist on duty, came to his hospital room for a visit.… See more

i think Dr Nierenberg is the best doctor, ever. After going to three different doctors, because I felt weak and sick, Dr Nierenberg diagnosed me with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, and immediately referred me to Dr Kevin Weibel at Oklahoma Cancer and Research Institute. Eighteen blood transfusions later, and with the right daily medication, my CLL is under control and I feel fine. I truly… See more

from Grady in OK March 11, 2020 for David M. Nierenberg, MD

Dr. David Nierenberg has been my family’s primary doctor for years. He has always been there during some real difficult health situations for us as a family. He is more than a doctor to us, he is a concerned friend. When he went into MDVIP, it was a no brainer for us to follow him there. The feeling of being secure in our health, both good and bad, with him “always there” for us cannot be… See more
