In 2012 I began having symptoms I had never experienced before- pain in my joints, difficulty performing daily tasks like dressing myself, and doing my otherwise normal job duties. After seeing a rheumatologist, I was diagnosed with RA and lupus but unfortunately spent the next year largely being ignored by him. It wasn't until I was admitted to the hospital after 3 previous trips to the ER that I was finally saved from the nightmare that had taken over my life. Dr. Borders came to see me in the hospital and recommended a different rheumatologist, one which immediately put me on a medical regime that undid the last year of suffering. Dr. Borders then helped me manage my pain, listened to my concerns, and helped me learn to live with my new diagnoses. Without his care over the last decade I don't know that I would have graduated with my masters in Social Work, or be able to work full time as a program manager, or able to teach part time for the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. Dr. Borders is compassionate, kind, empathetic, knowledgeable, and both an excellent doctor and person. He is a true caregiver and was able to turn my life around all those years ago. I am so thankful for him and his practice!
