My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

My goal is to help all patients achieve their health goals through individualized care and attention. As a primary care physician, I believe in emphasizing wellness to protect you from preventable diseases and keep you as healthy as possible by proactively concentrating on all areas of your health. I believe in treating a patient as a whole person instead of focusing only on symptoms or disease. By approaching internal medicine in this fashion and listening to each patient’s life experiences, I am better able to deliver quality services and effective treatments. The MDVIP Wellness Program offers me a myriad of tools and resources to help you achieve your health goals, including advanced screenings and tests emphasizing cardiovascular health, diabetes prevention, sleep, nutrition, fitness and emotional well-being.

No one should have to manage illness alone. By being a part of my personalized healthcare practice, you and I will nurture a close relationship. You will have unrushed appointments, I will be available whenever you need me, and I'll have time to coordinate necessary care with specialists. Similar to concierge medicine practices, I also offer conveniences like same- or next-day appointments that start on time.

I am affiliated with Reston Hospital Center and serve communities in Reston, Herndon, and surrounding areas of Virginia, including Fairfax, Vienna, Oakton, Sterling and Great Falls. I am a Washingtonian Top Doc and a Northern Virginia Magazine Top Doc. I am fluent in English and Chinese.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Hong

from Ferne in VA January 19, 2024 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

I'd like to share my experience with Dr. Hong and his compassion for my husband, Don, and myself. Don was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia six years ago. Dr. Hong has been there for us from the onset to the present time. He has helped us make the necessary decisions (such as taking away car keys, moving to a dementia facility) and always treating Don as a dear friend rather than just… See more

I don't have a specific moment, but Dr. Hong (& the entire staff in his office) has been extremely helpful, patience & knowledgeable over the several years he has been our principal care giver. My wife & I are planning to move in the near future and leaving Dr. Hong has been one of the most concerning aspects of our move.

from Robyn in VA January 18, 2024 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

I have been a patience with the practice of Dr. Hong and Dr. Julie Sugg for many years. I not only view them as my doctor's but extended family and friends. This practice has always provided me undivided attention and support throughout my experience. This industry is hard to find Doctor's and staff that you can build a relationship with that truly care. They are always reachable,… See more

from Thomas in VA August 2, 2023 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

Five years ago in high heat while weeding and not drinking enough water I had a brain bleed. I got into a nearby pool. I seemed to be ok on a trip to take courses at Hillsdale College in Michigan, but I dragged my left foot. When I got back to Fairfax, VA, my MDVIP doctor, Chun Hong MD, sent me for a brain scan at Reston Hospital. They rushed me into brain surgery, and it took over a month of… See more

Dr. Hong is one of the nicest and most wonderful doctors I have ever met. Dr. Hong has taught me how to care for my health by reading labels on packages and he is always there when you need his guidance. Dr. Hong’s staff is first rate and wonderful. I am so very blessed that I am a patient of Dr. Chun Hong.

It is times like this that are reminded how lucky you are to have Dr Hong, Julie Suggs, Jamie, Kim etc in your back pocket. They have been amazing through this world wide crisis and I am grateful that they are a call/text away. I continue to pray that they remain healthy while healing and that this pandemic passes as quick as possible.

Shortly after joining the practice, I was shocked to find out that I had a cancerous tumor on my kidney and required immediate surgery. Dr. Hong and his team supported me and my whole family....so that we never felt alone as we navigated this scary process! I feel so incredibly lucky to be a part of a practice that cares so much and is so attentive to my needs, both physically and emotionally… See more

from Patricia in VA February 28, 2020 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

Literally. He took the time to review a long report on a test he didn't even order. He did so as my doctor. He spotted what no other doctor did: slightly swollen lymph nodes in a CT-scan of my chest, checking for heart issues. He immediately had me do a slew of tests. When the mammogram came back normal, he kept going. The verdict: Stage 2B breast cancer. I am forever grateful.

from Mary in VA February 28, 2020 for Chun Hong, MD, PhD

On November 19th last year I went to the office of Dr. Hong and NP Julie Suggs because I was short of breath. Julie examined me and saw some warning signs that things were not right. She sent me right across the street to have tests at Reston Hospital. I was admitted later that day with bilateral pulmonary embolism. Dr. Hong came to the hospital while I was still in the ER, called in the… See more
