My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I believe in you not only as a patient but also as a friend. I feel that a patient should not be treated as a geriatric or middle aged patient. Patient care should be individualized to achieve maximum wellness and vibrancy. I feel too often patients are made to feel old before their time, i.e. geriatric. Health and vibrancy can be achieved at any age.

Although I treat all age groups – pediatric, young adult, adult, women’s health and geriatric medicine, my ultimate goal is to maximize your wellness. I have a special interest in preventive medicine and personalized healthcare. I feel that prevention is the key to continual well-being. Our wellness program/executive physical has been ranked in the top 10 nationally. I have been privileged and humbled to be named the top family physician by Lancaster County Magazine nine times.

I have been a practicing, board-certified family physician in Lancaster County for over thirty years and have patients from all areas of South Central Pennsylvania – including York, Harrisburg, Reading, Ephrata, Quarryville and Lititz.

I make routine house calls on my patients and I see my patients when they are in the hospital. A few of the hospitals where I advocate for my patients are Lancaster General Hospital, Heart of Lancaster Hospital and Lancaster Regional Hospital. I look forward to serving you and your family.

Testimonials from patients of Dr. Phillips

from Jane in PA March 8, 2018 for Spencer Phillips, MD, FAAFP

Two experiences in my short health journey with Dr. Phillips:
on a trip to Florida, I slipped iand fell out of the Marriott Courtyard bathtub while showering landing on my back and slamming my head on the tile floor. I was hospitalized and informed that stitches were not possible because of swelling. Upon returning home to Lancaster, PA, I had an appointment with Doctor Phillips for… See more

Dr. Phillips was there for me when I was admitted into the hospital and was instrumental in securing me a room on a very busy night. He and his staff were there for me when I had prescription refill issues over a weekend. I did not have to wait until Monday to get this done.

I am writing to apprise you of an outstanding and wonderful service that Dr. Phillips provided to my family. My 100 year old mother in law, who lives out of town, was staying with us while recovering from an illness. She had a band aid that remained after an IV that was causing discomfort and skin discoloration on her arm. I was concerned that removing it would cause her skin to be lifted… See more

Two years ago I went to see Spencer Phillips for a self-diagnosed appendicitis. After he confirmed my ailment, he spoke with my insurance to get admission authorization and then drove me to the hospital to check me in. How many doctors would do that. Yea - I think he is the best.

I'm not one who feels it's necessary to write these flowery memos. These people are the ones that everyone should get a trophy for participating. My doctor knows me well having been a student at the high school where I taught. I will point out what type of professional individual Spencer Phillips is when it comes to being sincerely concerned about the health and well being of his… See more

Dr. Phillips has been phenomenal. He is truly on duty 24/7. Recently he saw me in his office on a Sunday to deal with a sudden infection. He is a skilled physician and really cares about his patients. I no longer hesitate to call for help.

from Don March 21, 2017 for Spencer Phillips, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Phillips exemplifies what family doctor truly means. In today's society, everything has become commoditized, even medical treatment. Dr. Phillips reminds his patients that there is still a personal touch to family practice where patients are more than quotas, they are friends and family. That says a lot and means a lot in a world full of daily impersonal transactions and interactions… See more
