My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

As an internal medicine physician, I combine knowledge, experience, insight and technical ability when evaluating and treating patients for improved health and wellness. My goal is to help each patient by using a compassionate, unhurried approach to addressing his/her medical needs. This personalized healthcare model, allows us to better prevent, diagnose and manage illness. By listening, teaching and coaching, I am able to help my patients maintain wellness and vitality. Working as equal partners, we can identify and achieve goals that involve lifestyle modification, as well as prescribed treatments. My close doctor-patient relationships also allow me to advocate for you and help you navigate our complex healthcare system.

I am one of the few internists in Vermont offering this type of personalized approach to healthcare. My MDVIP-affiliated practice also offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. My primary care practice serves patients in southern and central Vermont, including Manchester, Bennington, Arlington, Salem, Dorset, Weston, Peru, Danby, Bondville, Londonderry, Wallingford and Jamaica, as well as adjacent western Massachusetts and eastern upstate New York. I am affiliated with Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont, and I also refer to Rutland Regional Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

My primary specialty is general internal medicine, but I have added qualifications in geriatric medicine/age management. I also have interests in preventive cardiology, nutrition, weight management issues and integrative health which allows me to provide a more holistic approach to your health.

Telemedicine Option: I am also using telemedicine visits to stay connected with my patients when they are unable to see me in the office. It is easy to do, and we have maintained our momentum with preventive health goals and chronic care during difficult times.

I wish everyone could have access to a health care professional of Dr. Michl's caliber. He takes the time to listen and is very thorough with follow up. I love his emphasis on prevention. We service our cars regularly - why not our bodies? The annual physical is very complete and gives me some peace of mind. His staff is very caring and has a can do attitude.

When I began seeing Dr Michl this past December I was apprehensive about being a new patient. Within a short time I became more comfortable and relaxed.
I am amazed at his thorough and comprehensive care which has been new to me coming from a large group practice which I found lacking in continuity. I have learned a great deal more about my health as his patient.
I find him caring… See more

Dr. Michl and his staff care so much about their patients. We are treated with respect and not pushed off as just some old folks. I am a control freak and they put up with me and for this alone I love them. When I call for any reason, I am listened to and they are very reassuring. We get call backs from Dr. Michl and his staff in record time. I really believe we have the best care...we… See more

We are senior citizens. Dr, Michl is always available by phone or beeper. We have had several falls over the years, and he comes to our home to see us after these events, or has answered questions right away over the phone. He helped us at Bennington Hospital to get a doctor's attention over New Year's week after 15 hours of not seeing a doctor. He is very attentive and concerned… See more
