About Keith W. Michl, MD, FACP
As an internal medicine physician, I combine knowledge, experience, insight and technical ability when evaluating and treating patients for improved health and wellness. My goal is to help each patient by using a compassionate, unhurried approach to addressing his/her medical needs. This personalized healthcare model, allows us to better prevent, diagnose and manage illness. By listening, teaching and coaching, I am able to help my patients maintain wellness and vitality. Working as equal partners, we can identify and achieve goals that involve lifestyle modification, as well as prescribed treatments. My close doctor-patient relationships also allow me to advocate for you and help you navigate our complex healthcare system.
I am one of the few internists in Vermont offering this type of personalized approach to healthcare. My MDVIP-affiliated practice also offers services, including comprehensive, advanced health screenings and diagnostic tests, that go far beyond those found in concierge medicine practices. My primary care practice serves patients in southern and central Vermont, including Manchester, Bennington, Arlington, Salem, Dorset, Weston, Peru, Danby, Bondville, Londonderry, Wallingford and Jamaica, as well as adjacent western Massachusetts and eastern upstate New York. I am affiliated with Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vermont, and I also refer to Rutland Regional Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.
My primary specialty is general internal medicine, but I have added qualifications in geriatric medicine/age management. I also have interests in preventive cardiology, nutrition, weight management issues and integrative health which allows me to provide a more holistic approach to your health.

Frequently Asked Questions
Doctors who operate in the MDVIP models typically see far fewer patients than traditional primary care doctors. That gives them more time to develop deeper doctor-patient relationships that can lead to better outcomes. They can also offer conveniences that most primary care doctors can’t, including same- and next-day appointments. They’re available after hours for urgent matters. And they have time to focus on prevention. That focus begins with the MDVIP Wellness Program, which patients pay for with their annual membership fee.
Most MDVIP-affiliated primary care practices accept insurance (your physician can tell you whether they accept your specific insurance plan). Your annual fee pays for preventive care medical services that insurance usually doesn’t cover (e.g., advanced diagnostic testing and screenings). Your MDVIP-affiliated physician will continue to bill your insurance and charge copays, co-insurances and deductibles as he or she currently does for other medical services like sick visits.
MDVIP makes wellness and prevention easier by providing your physician with innovative tools and technology. MDVIP supports your physician’s practice and seeks to eliminate barriers to a positive healthcare experience. Your doctor will determine whether and how to incorporate these tools at his/her discretion.
