My Philosophy and Approach to Wellness...

I would like to have a partnership with you. As your personal physician, I will share my 35 years of medical experience in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine and sleep disorders. Together, we can achieve your very best health - preventive health - as well as management of your medical problems, no matter how small or complex. You and I will work as a team to identify your needs and goals, and I will also advocate for you in our increasingly complex healthcare system.

I will impart my expertise in nutrition management and exercise training, which are the cornerstones of prevention and staying well. Whether 30 or 80 years of age, it is important to take charge of your health. In my personalized healthcare practice, sometimes compared to a concierge medical practice, I am available whenever you need me and have the time and resources to help guide you on the path to wellness.

My primary care practice serves the North Shore of Boston, including Beverly, Peabody, Salem, Danvers, Wenham and Manchester areas of Massachusetts. My office is located on the campus of Beverly Hospital, where I am in close proximity to visit you if you are hospitalized. In addition to internal medicine, I provide pulmonary and sleep assessments and management services. I enjoy sharing recipes, cooking techniques, gardening tips and exercise training advice to help you reach your health goals.

I first met Dr. Ruff back in 2009. I was 7 ½ months pregnant and had been referred to him by my OBGYN. I was having some issues with my asthma, and needed someone who would help me for the long run not just this one instance. Dr. Ruff, took me under his wing and made sure that I had everything I needed and that my baby was going to be okay as well. I will never forget how calming he was… See more

We have both learned about more healthful life styles through Dr. Ruff's teaching us about nutrition, exercise, diabetes, and a restful night's sleep - all good benefits for the purpose of aging gracefully.

We also appreciate his hospital visits - very important for continuity of care and the healing process.

thank you Dr. Ruff,

I feel very lucky to have Dr. Roy Ruff for a doctor. Fortunately, I don't have too many health problems but when I do, it's easy to get through to him. He's genuinely concerned about anything I'm dealing with, gives me time to talk it out and he makes sure regular tests are run to keep me functioning and on the right track. I'm looking forward to attending some of… See more

Exceptional medical care and concern while being treated for an aggressive cat bite infection. Dr. Ruff cautioned that the normal protocol for treatment might not be effective and that if improvement was not evident I should contact him whenever that became apparent. Accordingly I contacted him on his cell phone late on a Saturday morning. Within two hours he had coordinated my admission to… See more
